Hamburg - The Coffee Shops

Monday, 2 April 2018

In the five months I spent studying abroad in Hamburg, I drank a lot of coffee! Because of my Instagram addiction, I had a lot of coffee pics on my phone when I landed back in Dublin. Here is a compilation of some of the coffee shops I visited.

This bakery was a Godsend on route to horribly early lectures - their latte's and mohnschnecke's kept me going. Also possibly one of the best smelling bakeries I have ever been in.

Café Alex, Jungfernstieg
Café Alex
Very fancy with a beautiful view of the Alster and really nice cake this place is a winner. Very classy atmosphere, and I really enjoyed their backed cheesecake.

This place was one of the cutest cafes I found in Hamburg, as the name suggests, it's fully of cute pinkness think Cat Kidson style décor and lovely cupcakes that don't just look good, but deliver taste wise too.

Fat Unicorn Sweets
Sadly I thought the cupcakes at this place were a little overrated but the cute interior makes it worth a visit. The staff were really friendly & welcoming.

Café May  - Hein-Hoyer-Straße 14

Café May
The Hein-Hoyer-Str branch of this café-bar I went to was in the Reeperbahn, this is the place to go if you want coffee at midnight.. which me & my friends did! It was a shabby chic place with a very cosy living-room like atmosphere, there was a bookshelf and lots of lamps which gave it a very homey vibe.

Elbgold, Lagerstraße 34c
Elbgold
I loved the very polished coffee connoisseur vibe to this café, they do a mean chocolate brownie and I liked the giant coffee roast containers lining the walls!

This is kinda like the Costa of Hamburg I guess. I really liked the coffee I got there in the branch at Hamburg Hafen, the view of the Harbour from there was great.

This place I just happened to go a few times as it was right at the entrance of the mall near my campus.. they do really nice giant mugs of tea & there's cute booths and floral wallpaper.

31.01.18 | Café Sul - Ditmar-Koel-Str. 10

This café is located in the Portuguese quarter, it has a really warm homey vibe and cute little custard tarts.

Brozeit  (no link) - Hagenbeckstraße 31, 22527 Hamburg, Germany
This place couldn't not be mentioned as it was right down the street from my dorm. The staff were probably the friendliest I came across in Hamburg, and they did nice pastries and coffee. Very chilled friendly atmosphere.
