Weekdaze: Sunday Notes #1

Sunday, 31 July 2016

Hey guys, I've decided to try a "Sunday Notes" series here on my blog, I'm thinking about making this a weekly thing, or maybe I'll just do one at the end of slightly more eventful weeks, but I'll just be sharing some bite-sized reflections on my week.

1. I watched a few documentaries, something I need to watch more, sometimes watching really depressing things can make you more grateful and appreciative of what you have, I'm always trying to find ways to remember to be grateful. I also finished watching The Killing on Netflix, it's very dark but it really dragged me in.

2. Had fun adding few little design updates to my blog this week, you may have noticed if you're a regular visitor.

3. I filmed a try on haul for my channel. I was worrying a bit about feeling really uninspired but sometimes the best way to get out of a creative slump is just to create something, it doesn't really matter what.

4. My phone finally gave up and died. RIP phone, you served me well, even thought I dropped you so many times. Sadly, it's bye bye Snapchat & Instagram until I can get a replacement. *sniffle*

5. I now want a typewriter. I think the typing sound is super cool and relaxing also they're supposed to be good for writing because you have to think more carefully before you type because you can't just instantly erase your mistakes. Try out this cool online simulator, it's probably not as good as the real thing, but fun to play around with.

6. As usual, I was watching a lot of Kdrama, are you watching Uncontrollably Fond or Doctors? I think Doctors is my current fave. I've been thinking about doing videos talking to you about what I've watched at the end of each month..

Until next time,
Sadiya

5 Quick Ways To Get Blogging Inspiration

Wednesday, 27 July 2016

Hey guys, I thought I'd share 5 quick ways I get blogging inspiration. I'm always look for ways to get inspired and come up with ideas.

1. Magazines.
Even really old magazines are full of inspiration for content. If you're a blogger you probably have a better appreciation for the amount of work that went into putting one together!

2. Your favourite blogs.
Reading other blogger's posts is definitely a great way to get inspired.

3. Doing something else.
Head out & do something fun or different, a change of scene can help with ideas.

4. Doodling.
I find just drawing little things in my notebook can help me come up with ideas.

5. Brainstorming.
Write down anything idea that comes into your head, pick a couple of faves and develop them into something more.

Where do you find blogging inspiration?

Until next time,
Sadiya

How not to buy stuff you don't need just because you blog // Authetic Blogging

Monday, 18 July 2016

Coming up with blog content is challenging sometimes. Being authentic and blogging can be difficult. You may be feeling stuck or uninspired. You may feel like you should be doing things a certain way or writing certain types of posts. You might think "oh I'll just buy this thing I don't want or need" because if I buy it, I can write about it. Here are some of my thoughts on how to step away from buying things you don’t need, just because you blog.

 1. Seek Experiences Not Things // Do cool and interesting stuff.
I know how hard this can be, you may be strapped for cash, or live in a quiet area, where there isn't much to do. But get out of your comfort zone a little bit, even if it's as small as going for a walk, or just trying something new. The more things you do, outside of your regular routine, the more you have to inspire you when you’re creating content.

2. Learn.
The more knowledge you have, the more useful your content will be. Learn skills that will help you create better content, like how to take great photos, just experiment more with your camera. Read, and watch interesting things. Get out of your comfort zone, even if it’s just watching a documentary you wouldn’t normally be interested in or watching a different kind of film. A cool thing to do is read a news site from a different country. It’s cool to see a fresh and different perspective or just read stories you wouldn’t normally see covered in your local media. Entertaining your readers, or showing them how to do something they want to do (edit Instagram photos, for example.) will help you create content that is useful or helpful.

3. Think outside the box.
Be aware of the things that influence you so you can choose things consciously by yourself. Think about what influences you and why. Yes you want your content to look pretty and appealing, but polished "perfection" can be found on any commercial site or magazine. I think blogging can and should be more raw, fresh and relatable. You don't need an entire makeup counter to look good. The world revolves around making us believe that we're not good enough. That we're not okay, without all the products we’re supposed to buy. I'm not saying hey, don't like or buy the things you like. I'm just saying ask yourself why you want something.

 4. Use Your Reality // Be Yourself.
Use your raw reality to create content. In the super airbrushed, edited and filtered world, I feel that there is a serious lack of "hey, this is what my natural face looks like”. (I am as guilty of this as anyone) What you see on a person’s social media is their highlight reel. Don’t buy into the idea that what you’re seeing is their whole life and their whole reality. The perspective from which we're shown something, everything from the way a person writes, to the angle they took a picture from. Lighting, editing, everything that goes into creating something, paints a pretty picture. Look the picture, appreciate it, but know that it something that is often carefully constructed. Being authentic and providing value to your reader can set your blog apart. Everyone is different, you don't need to do what everyone else is doing just for the sake of it. Find and do the things you love yourself. Think about what you're passionate about, and channel that into creating your content. There's nothing wrong with being inspired by others, loving something they're doing and wanting to do it to. Just make it your own and do it because you want to. When you blog, you have complete creative control and you should use and revel in that. Basically, you are Anna Wintour and your blog is Vogue, (or the equivalent of this statement in whatever niche you blog about. :p) make it what you want!  Be creative and “do you boo”. In writing this post, I think I’ve realised that I really am all about inspirational, motivational self-improvement type stuff. I hope this post was helpful to you.

Current Obsession | Minimalism

Monday, 11 July 2016

Hey guys, today I'm talking about something that I've really become a little bit obsessed with,

Recently I've realised how much I love it. I know the whole minimalism vibe is very popular at the moment.  Real minimalism has much more depth to it than just being a style or aesthetic. I would love to be a minimalist in a more real way, just getting rid of a lot of clutter and unnecessary stuff in my life, and just having the bare minimum, but that isn't totally practical for me. I think it probably takes a lot of time to get to that place. I guess the current definition of minimalism in my life is a visual & fashion style, rather than really the idea of living with less, but here are some thoughts and quotes about the idea of minimalism that make it so appealing.

                                            ----------------------------------------------

                                        ----------------------------------------------

Reasons To Love M I N I M A L I S M:

• Less Is More
Appreciating the little things and appreciating less is a wonderful thing. Having less means you appreciate what's actually there more. The more stuff you own, the more the stuff owns you.

• Simplicity
Minimalism to me is step towards simplicity and S I M P L I C I T Y  = an easier life, who doesn't like simplicity?

• Space To Think  | Mental P E A C E / C L A R I T Y
I feel like if there is less clutter in your life, your thinking might less cluttered, you'll be more centred mentally and can live your life with more intention. I think that minimalism in your life could help bring you clarity of mind. I say this because, personally, just being in an organised environment really helps me in be more focused and  productive.

• Be More Minimal In Your Life. (small steps)
Get rid of clutter. Physical clutter, like unnecessary objects in your environment, but also mental/emotional clutter. Unfollow accounts you follow that don't have a positive impact on you. Follow people that appreciate minimal vibes and inspire you in a positive way. Stop following accounts that make you feel negative or inadequate. Surround yourself with as much positivity as you can.

My Everyday Makeup Look // First Makeup Vid

Sunday, 10 July 2016

Hey guys, I finally finished editing my first makeup video, in it I show you my daily makeup routine, it's relatively simple compared to a lot of makeup looks, I don't wear a huge amount of makeup on a daily basis. I tend to favour lighter coverage looks. I don't wear everything I've applied in this video every single day, it just depends how I feel and how much time I have. If I'm in a rush it's probably just concealer, brows and mascara or just nothing to be honest. I'm not sure if makeup videos are something I'm going to feature regularly my channel or not. Obviously I'm not a pro so they're not going to be professional style tutorial videos or anything, it's more just if you're interested in seeing how I apply makeup..  anyway I hope you like the video! Do let me know what you think, give it a like, and subscribe for more!

Much love,
Sadiya

Beauty Buys: Thoughts

Tuesday, 5 July 2016

1. Rimmel Super Curler 24 hr mascara
I love any mascara that will curl my lashes, I've used better curling mascaras, this one isn't bad overall, unfortunately I found it does have a tendency to clump a little bit though.

2. Boots Botanics Radiance Balm All Bright
This can be used under makeup as a base/primer or over it. I like to use it under my foundation and apply some over the tops of my cheekbones afterwards for a subtle glowy highlight. I really love it as I'm not into a super obvious highlight look for everyday. Used all over the face, I think it really instantly lifts and brightens without needing anything else if you feel like wearing little to no makeup. Instant dezombiefier! :p

3. Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation
I thought I wouldn't like anything as much as the Rimmel Match Perfection, which is still my go to foundation, but I decided to try this. I didn't like it much at first, I found it didn't blend out as well as I'd like, but I think it has more of yellow undertone that suits my skin. I like using it mixed with some moisturiser so it's grown on me.

4. Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer
I normally prefer a non liquid concealer but I love the brightening effect of this one while still giving good coverage. It's also much easer to blend than a pan concealer.

I'll be using some of these products in my upcoming "everyday makeup" video so look out for that!
