Links I Love #2

Thursday, 31 March 2016

Hey guys, I'm back with another links I love post, I hope you find some of these helpful.
I wanted to see what the magazine written by bloggers, for bloggers was like, so I ordered a copy of the latest edtion, I'm waiting to receive it, it's got Lilly Pebbles on the cover. Thre's an e-version available too.
I'm not sure if everyone except me already knew about this site/app, but I'm working on my insta feed at the moment and it's really helpful. It helps you schedule posts, you can even preview your photos in the order they'll appear, as well as upload and schedule from your desktop.
I only found this site recently, they're an Irish online store that specializes in natural skincare and beauty products. They stock a really huge range of natural skincare and beauty brands. They also do a monthly natural skincare subscription box which I'd love to try out.
I found this really handy for helping me write properly, an important tool for bloggers who want to avoid spelling and grammar mistakes, it works everywhere you write too.
My current guilty pleasure is K-drama, a friend got me on it. I just finished, "Beating Again" on Netflix, but there are other shows available to stream from this site with English subtitles.

The other links I love are your blog links so leave them below.
Much love,

Recent Beauty Buys

Thursday, 24 March 2016
Hey everyone, hope you're all doing well, I'm sharing some of my recent beauty buys today, although a couple are not so recent..  anyway, first off are a couple of products I picked up on my most recent trip to Lush.

♥ Lush "Seanik" Shampoo Bar
This shampoo bar has a really fresh scent, it does smell a bit ocean/beach like. It contains Irish moss gel, Japanese seaweed and fine sea salt. It gave amazing volume and shine to my hair, it is really really cleansing so it's good for product buildup, flat or fine hair. I thought it was a tiny bit harsh for me but I'd buy it again because it made my hair so shiny and bouncy. I really love Lush shampoo bars, if you're thinking of trying one do get the tin to store them in to stop them melting away, I've pictured this one in the tin after about 6-7 washes, I found this so cleansing that I didn't need that much product each time so it's a pretty economical product too.

♥ Lush "You've Been Mangoed" Bath Melt
I love mangos and this smelt so mangoey I had to get it, it's a very tiny melt and it didn't do a whole lot for me really, besides turning the bath water green. It's supposed to soften your skin after a soak in it, but I didn't notice any great difference. It is kind of a cute fun little product though.

♥ Tangle Angel Classic Hairbrush
I freaking love this hairbrush, I picked it up in TK Maxx for around a tenner, it's so good, I bought it mostly because it's easy to clean compared to other hairbrushes and is also treated with a kind of anti-bacterial thing so that's an added feature you don't normally get in a hairbrush. It also looks really pretty, the angel wings are different and it also stands up on vertically on a flat surface so that's cool.

♥ Real Techniques Beauty Blender
This is a cult beauty tool at this point, and after my amazing experience with the expert face brush, I decided to pick this up and try it out too. Again, I realised straight away why everyone loves it so much, it has an amazing texture and it's really lovely to use, it blends product amazingly well and is especially great for blending under eye concealer.

♥ Eyelure Naturals No 020 Lashes
I always thought false eyelashes were kinda scary things, like I'd put out an eye if I attempted to apply them, but after watching some of my favourite YouTubers wearing them, I decided they look amazing and I should try them out sometime. These were on special offer in Boots so I thought I'd give them a go, they looked beginner friendly with a test lash and applicator included. They also give quite a natural look as well so I thought wouldn't look totally ridiculous with them on. They were easy to apply fit my eye really well and gave a really understated oomph to my lashes, I think they really opened up my eyes, and gave a really naturally pretty effect. I'll probably be buying more lashes now that these worked so well for me, I'd definitely recommend these if you're new to wearing falsies.

What  your most recent beauty buy?

Current Lifestyle Favorites

Thursday, 17 March 2016
Hey guys, hope you're all well, I've been feeling somewhat uninspired when it comes to blogging at the moment, college deadlines have been crazy stressful so I haven't had much time to get ideas together. I'm so glad it's nearly Easter break. Anyway, I thought I'd just share some of my current, and kinda random, lifestyle favourites.

♥ H&M Water Bottle
I don't drink enough water, but since I bought this I have been drinking a bit more, probably because it means I always have water with me, but also because the bottle's pretty :p I really like the understated design.

 Coconut Oil
You probably already know about how coconut oil is good for so many different things, my skin has been quite dry recently and it really helps. I've also been using it for "oil pulling" which is where you use oil like you would use mouthwash, but you hold it in your mouth for longer before spitting it out. It really works, if you do a few times a day it does make your teeth a little bit whiter.

♥ Eye-Lash Curlers
I bought these in Superdrug and they're not great lash curlers compared to others I've used, they were super cheap though. You do get two replacement pads which I used with my old lash curlers, which are much better, it's given them it a new lease of life. Lash curlers are literally the thing I would take with me to a desert island if I was only allowed to bring one beauty tool, they really open up your eyes, great for me in the morning when I look like the walking dead.

♥ New Balance
I could go on forever about how comfy these shoes are, I hadn't worn decent trainers in a long while and I forgot how comfy they are. I've been wearing these a lot and I'm definitely gonna buy another few pairs, they're amazing.

♥ Portable Charger
I only recently bought on of these, and it is a life saver when I'm out all day. Only problem is remembering to charge it up again..

♥ Notebooks
I love notebooks and would actually collect them, if I didn't stop myself from buying them all. I'm currently on the look out for a really nice unlined one because I want to try starting a bullet journal. It might (hopefully) help me organise my life and stop me from pulling all nighters every time I have a big assignment,  procrastination has been bigger problem for me this semester. :/

♥ Doodling
I'd forgotten how much fun just messing around with markers is, I got some new brush pens/markers and I love just doodling with them, I was inspired by some of the typography and art posts I see on Instagram and  I'm now following a load of typography Tumblr blogs too.

♥ Rose Water
I used to use rose water as a toner before, but then I forgot about it for a while, now I'm back using it again and it's honestly the best, it's a really gentle and completely natural toner. It's really great for dry or sensitive skin. This East End one you can probably find in your local ethnic food store, often for less that €2, so it's great value too.

♥ Tiger Travel Spray Bottles
I bought these to put my rose water into so I can just spray it on my face, it's quicker than using cotton wool or pads to apply it and they're handy for keeping in my handbag too because they're so small.

♥ Organic Tea Tree Cream
I've been using this tea tree cream on my break outs and it's so good, I find anything natural with tea tree to be amazing for any kind of break outs or skin irritations, a lot of other break out treatment products can be really really harsh in comparison.

So that's some of my current lifestyle favourites.
What are you loving right now?

Recent Reads #4

Thursday, 10 March 2016

Hey guys, I'm here with another recent reads post, I've been trying to read more, but it can be difficult to find time in between all the other reading and research I have to do for college. Anyway I bought these three books in a thrift store, mostly because the covers were pretty. :p I've only said a little about these books, I've focused on sharing just a few thoughts, but I'm hoping to do much better written and more in-depth book reviews here at some point.

I'm glad I found this book, I enjoyed it so much, even though I guess by the time I got halfway through I wasn't a fan of the actual story. It started out really light and even though the blurb is pretty clear that the story is dark, I was so caught up in all the small details that when it turned dark I was kinda surprised. It went on a lot in a big twisty way which could be annoying for some but I just enjoyed the ride. It contains a lot of, it could be said, unnecessary wordiness, but I liked that and thought it was what made that main character Blue come to life, it's like your inside the head of a person who thinks at a mile a minute but that doesn't stop them from forming thoughts of incredibly detailed thoughts. It is chock full of similes and metaphors, so many it's comical but I think that's what I found most appealing about it, I actually read bits of it out loud to people!

♥ My rating: 5/5

This was a great quick read, it's set in ancient Japan and probably doesn't accurately represent that time, but anyway, it's about an evil warlord's nightingale floor. Basically a floor that makes a lot of noise when it's stood on and so no assassin can cross it to quickly end him. There's a boy who's destiny is to cross it or really, has just made it his mission to do so. The boy has special powers and isn't aware of his real identity.. you probably can kinda guess where things go, there's suspense and intrigue and maybe it's a bit cliched, but I enjoyed it.

♥ My rating: 4/5

I didn't realise this was the second book in a series I hadn't read, when I picked it up. I read it but it didn't really do anything for me, there were some interesting elements to the plot but a lot of it seemed to be just filler, the plot didn't seem to move along very quickly. There is another book after this but I don't think I'll be reading it.

♥ My rating: 1/5

What are you reading at the moment?

Much love,

Links I Love #1

Thursday, 3 March 2016
Hey guys,
I've decide to start doing "Links I Love" posts, there are a lot of amazing things I come across, resources, or just random interesting things I like. I'll probably post them every so often when I've compiled some interesting links. Here are today's.

I love lists of links to sites that contain useful resources so I'm linking this one from Pop Sugar.

I've wanted to try making YouTube videos for a very long time, I might be able to make it happen soon, fingers crossed. For anyone out there interested in starting their channel, this is a lovely inspirational and helpful channel.

I had a Tumblr a few years ago and I loved it, I abandoned it though when I decided it was taking up way too much of my time. Now I'm back on it and I think it's great for displaying a visual style. It helps me come up with ideas for photography and the kind of dream theme I'd like for my blog/Instagram. I'm trying to keep it clean and minimal and not just reblog cat gifs all day. Follow me! I do post some bits on show's I'm currently watching and stuff.

I haven't been feeling very motivated this week, and deadlines are looming. Anyway when I fill myself with motivational/self help fluff it can help a bit. I came across this site, like just now as I write this, under the wellness section on Bloglovin' and it sounds like it's right up my street. There's also a podcast if you're into those.
