Reading Goals

Thursday, 21 January 2016

Hey guys, hope you're all well, I recently updated my Goodreads account which I haven't used as much as I would like. If you're a bookworm you have probably heard of the website, basically it's a place where you can track and review books you've read as well as follow other people's reads, and reviews, and get personalised book recommendations. It's a great way to find new books and keep a record of all the books you have read. I haven't really made proper use of it though, I'd like to use it more this year.

I started Frankenstein, by Mary Shelly back in October and haven't finished it. I'm trying to get back into it, what I've read so far was very good, the language in it is amazing but requires a bit more effort to process and understand, like a lot of classic literature. I've been lazy though and went back to read The Hunger Games again. It was as a kind of nostalgic goodbye to the series after seeing the last movie recently, I couldn't remember what was supposed to be happening because it was so long since I'd read the books. I tend to be able to get through young adult books at great speed but have to work a bit harder to move away from the genre and try different books. I want to try reading more thrillers, but I find a lot of them a bit too grisly and disturbing sometimes.

I also really want to read more non-fiction, there's so much I could learn about different things if I read more non-fiction. I've really lowered my Goodreads 2016 goal of books to read from last year, so I actually have a shot at meeting it, problem is tearing myself away from the TV series I want to watch on Netflix and make time to read. I recently subscribed to "booktuber" Ameriie's channel Beauty Books Ameriie and she's inspired me with her book recommendations.

Hopefully I do read 25 books in 2016, I'm not counting The Hunger Games series because I've already read them though. This is a very short somewhat random post, but I'm trying to motivate myself to get back into reading more. If you're on Goodreads I'd love to follow your reads and reviews, you can follow mine here. I'm gonna go away and read Frankenstein,

What are you reading at the moment?

Until next time,
Sadiya

  1. Epically failed my goodreads goal last year, lowered mine this year too - hopefully I do actually manage it this time round! It's such a great little tool.

I'm reading the Maze Runner series at the moment! xo
